Innovation and Science: The Power Behind Amway’s Products
At Amway, health and wellbeing sit at the heart of what we do. Our core mission is to help people live better, healthier lives. But this goal requires a multi-pronged approach – starting with critical scientific research.
With 75+ laboratories and an innovation and science team of more than 800 innovators, Amway’s entire portfolio of popular products is backed by some of the industry’s most cutting-edge tech and robust resources. Considering the breadth and depth of our research capabilities, Amway has never been satisfied with merely parroting others’ research or findings.

Instead, we work with leading scholars every day to conduct, verify, and implement our very own research, which builds the foundation for the high-quality products we provide for you and your family. We take our research seriously because we know that when the public is well-informed, they can make the best choices for the wellbeing of themselves and their families.
Take gut health for example – a topic quickly growing in popularity. From documentaries to social media influencers to mainstream news, a true national conversation has emerged on maintaining a healthy gut microbiome.
Amway has been at the helm of this research long before its recent popularity. One of our leading nutrition research and development leaders, Nikky Contractor, brings more than 20 years of gut microbiome research and expertise to her role in developing new vitamins and supplements at Amway.
“I’ve worked on product development for a variety of Amway supplements within the U.S., focused on gut health, heart health, hormonal regulation, sports nutrition, and more. Whether I’m working on prebiotics, probiotics, vitamins or minerals, Amway puts in significant time and energy in ensuring the best of our innovative capacity is reflected in each and every single product,” said Nikky. “Amway is heavily invested in the science of supplements and that’s really inspiring to me.”
Last month, Amway published a scientific review outlining the importance of “gut priming” – which involves supplying your gut microbiome with the tools that allow it to most effectively digest and metabolize food and absorb nutrients.
Your gut is like your body’s second brain. It houses 70% of our immune system – thus, priming it enables you to improve not only your digestive health but also your stress responses, cognitive abilities and overall mood.
Think of gut priming like you would your makeup or paint primer. It sets the foundation to keep your makeup or your paint working at its highest capacity. Supplying your gut microbiome with plant-based foods – fermented greens, herbs, fruits, vegetables and spices – can help the gut to function at its best. Our research also shows that getting enough probiotics, prebiotics, dietary fiber and digestive enzymes plays a large role in priming one’s gut.
Amway aims to promote healthy gut microbiomes through our many plant-based vitamins and supplements that are full of fiber, minerals, prebiotic elements and phytonutrients. Our team collaborates with leading figures in the health industry and academia to fully understand how to leverage the benefits of plant-based ingredients in our products. Our latest product Nutrilite Begin™is a result of this collaboration. Additionally, through Amway’s unique product development process – where its research and development team gets feedback from consumers directly – Amway is also creative in the way it sources insights to better its products.
Amway’s role in leading America’s $41.2 billion vitamin and supplement industry has come to life through the power of science. Our world-class innovation, manufacturing, quality assurance and agricultural teams are the force behind our portfolio of products for nutrition, fitness, skincare and clean, healthy homes.
People need brands that care about their health as much as they do. Luckily, that’s where Amway comes in – after all, they’ve been leading the way for over 65 years.
