Amway’s Young Direct Sellers and Employees Innovating the Industry
When asked about innovation, dedication and bold thinking, two Amway employees – Katelin Spielmaker and Marcus Burgin – come to mind for many who work with them. That may be one reason they were named to the Direct Selling News (DSN) list of “40 under 40.”
The DSN “40 under 40” 2025 class is a list of leading young executives in the direct selling channel. These young innovators were recognized by DSN as leaders in shaping the industry’s future.
Marcus is the Vice President of Finance and Katelin is a Director of Leader Growth Solutions. While representing different aspects of the business, Katelin and Marcus both see a common theme in their journeys at Amway and in the industry in general – including the many young, motivated individuals joining this industry.

Both believe that this industry is more relevant than ever before to the younger generation – from finance professionals to entrepreneurs – because of its community-based approach to business, culture of continuous learning and the flexibility with which a business can be operated.
“You can make this business meet the needs of your goals and what you want” said Marcus.
And that is what made Amway such an attractive option for young entrepreneurs who are just getting their start. When the barriers to entrepreneurship are lowered through the Amway model, young entrepreneurs are given a real shot at business ownership without facing as many of the challenges as traditional, brick-and-mortar business owners. Katelin, the daughter of entrepreneurs, knows well that the Amway model is a stark contrast to the risks that she witnessed her parents taking.
In addition to the support offered to get a business off the ground, including the products and a personal online storefront, Amway offers other vital benefits that are often overlooked. In conversations with IBO leaders, mentorship and community are discussed as often as other potential business benefits. Mentorship is important to the IBOs as they grow their business but it is also core to professional development at Amway.
In fact, Katelin and Marcus give a lot of credit to the mentors who were with them at the start of their careers for their success today.
Marcus and Katelin have each become powerhouses in their own right, climbing to leadership positions at a young age and now helping to shape the next generation of young professionals. When they were early in their careers people leaders all across Amway gave them opportunities to step up. This is what they’re trying to do now for those up-and-coming on their team for continuous development.
And true to Amway’s values, Katelin and Marcus’ leadership is so effective because they both keep people first. Each and everyday these two are collaborating across teams and with IBOs and embodying Amway’s values of partnership, responsibility, personal worth and integrity.
