Major Investment in Cutting-Edge Manufacturing Capabilities at Amway’s Michigan Headquarters

The massive effort behind the transition of Amway’s manufacturing operations from California to Michigan is well underway, accompanied by significant investments in state-of-the-art manufacturing systems in the Great Lakes state.

“We are laying the foundation for the future, enhancing our manufacturing capabilities and advancing innovation in ways that will position us for success in the years to come,” said a member of Amway’s manufacturing leadership team.

Solid Dose Manufacturing (SDM) Operation

A key part of this transformation is a 52,000-square-foot solid dose (nutritional tablets, capsules and powders) manufacturing (SDM) operation, now under construction on Amway’s manufacturing campus in Ada.

This new space, in addition to the current Nutrilite Spaulding Plant (NSP), will become Amway’s flagship operation for their global production of Nutrilite supplements. As Amway progresses through the transition, the Supply Chain and Research & Development teams are already executing a robust strategy to qualify and validate over 50 pieces of equipment and 139 product formulas to ensure the continued high quality of Nutrilite vitamins and supplements.

R&D Nutrition Pilot Plant

A new 25,000 square foot R&D Nutrition Pilot Plant is also taking shape to support product development and manufacturing efforts at Amway’s world headquarters in Michigan. The plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and will become fully operational by the first quarter of 2026.

Over the past year, the team also built a high-density warehouse and added a new cool room to store materials and finished products.  Additionally, a sophisticated new walk-in stability chamber was created in 2025 for product testing under controlled environmental conditions. Beyond that, they’ve made progress in qualifying additional manufacturing equipment to support plant trials, stability work and saleable product production.

Manufacturing Transition & Team Collaboration

Amway’s California team has played a critical role in preparing their counterparts in Michigan for the monumental task of transitioning operations. With over 15,000 hours of training provided and more than 85% of the NSP Solid Dose Manufacturing team receiving hands-on guidance, both teams worked together to uphold Amway’s strong foundation of quality in the midst of these manufacturing shifts.

“We are working diligently to minimize disruptions during this transition to ensure minimal impact on our lab operations and our customers during the phased construction process,” relayed a member of Amway’s manufacturing leadership team. “This effort goes far beyond technical instruction—it reflects the dedication and professionalism of our employees, ensuring continuity and excellence.”

The Michigan team has onboarded 40 new employees in NSP Solid Dose Manufacturing since January 2024 and will continue ramping up operations with the hiring, onboarding and training of more than 10 new technicians by January 2026.
