A Promise You Can Trust: How Amway Protects Customers and Independent Business Owners
At Amway, satisfaction isn’t simply an aspiration—it’s a commitment we stand behind. Through strong protections, high-quality products and transparent, traceable practices, we work to ensure that both customers and Independent Business Owners (IBOs) can engage with confidence. That commitment is formalized through our Amway Promise, which reflects Amway’s responsibility to the members of our community.

For customers, the Amway Promise is straightforward: if you’re not satisfied with a product, you can return it for a refund, with only limited and clearly defined exceptions. This approach is designed to make shopping simple, fair and low-risk, so customers can focus on choosing products that fit their lives.
That same commitment to trust and transparency extends to the IBOs who sell Amway products to their customers. Amway Independent Business Owners understand both the opportunity and the responsibility that comes with small business ownership. They are required to meet rigorous standards, guided by the Rules of Conduct that are part of every IBO’s contract with Amway and that set clear expectations for ethical behavior, transparency and good faith interactions with customers and fellow IBOs. Violations of these standards are taken seriously and may result in disciplinary action—another way Amway reinforces consumer protection and accountability across our network.
Amway’s protections also extend to the approximately 290,000 IBOs across the United States who have chosen to explore Amway business ownership. New IBOs have access to educational resources, ongoing guidance, established supply chains and a personal online storefront to support their early success. With no cost to register during the first contract year and no purchase requirements at any point, Amway offers a low-risk entry point for individuals exploring supplemental income through small business ownership.
At the same time, we recognize that small business ownership is not the preferred path for everyone. Our Amway Promise reflects that reality as well. Although there are no purchase requirements, IBOs who decide to pursue other endeavors can return any unused and unsold products they may have purchased , subject to certain limitations, reinforcing our commitment to fairness and informed choice. IBOs who are not leaving the Amway business may ask Amway to buy back unused, currently marketable products if they are experiencing financial hardship or other exceptional circumstances. Ultimately, Amway’s success is inseparable from the confidence people place in our products and our business model. That is why satisfaction—rooted in transparency, accountability and consumer protection—will always be more than a goal. It is a promise we are committed to upholding.
