Volunteering isn’t just for April!

With the mission of “helping people live better, healthier lives,” Amway employees advance this goal not only through their work supporting millions of entrepreneurs around the world but also through their volunteerism within the communities in which Amway is based.

In 2023, Amway’s U.S.-based employees reported a total of more than 15,000 volunteer hours spent addressing food insecurity, homelessness, and health inequity within their communities. Whether volunteering through organizations Amway has long-standing philanthropic partnerships with, such as EasterSeals, or through their children’s schools, church organizations, or local non-profits, Amway employees had a widespread impact on communities across the U.S.

In April of this year – National Volunteering Month – Amway employees once again rose to the occasion to dedicate themselves to community service. By engaging in corporate-sponsored community service projects, employees at Amway’s U.S. locations contributed more than 750 hours of their time in April. This included decorating brown paper lunch bags and packing snack packs with Kids’ Food Basket for children experiencing food insecurity in public schools, helping Sus Manos Gleaners send excess produce from local West Michigan farms to international markets like Haiti that are experiencing severe hunger, and supporting Orangewood Foundation feed struggling youth in Southern California.

“Amway employees’ enthusiastic response has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Volunteer & Community Engagement Specialist Monse Anleu. “Throughout National Volunteer Month, we coordinated eleven volunteer events, fostering a spirit of generosity and unity. Together, we contributed more than 750 hours of service, a testament to our collective commitment to supporting our communities.”

At different points in the year,  Amway sponsors special “logging events”, that allow employees to report their volunteer hours and talk about their efforts to give back to their communities over breakfast. The latest event found that Amway employees have already spent more than 2,000 hours volunteering in the first four months of 2024.“We love to support the causes that our employees care about,” said Lindsey Tilley, Corporate Social Responsibility supervisor at Amway. “We do that by incentivizing their volunteer service by offering a $50 donation for every 10 hours of volunteer time they report, up to $100 annually.” An additional $100 in matching funds is provided by Amway based on employees’ giving to their favorite non-profits.

Lindsey also remarked, “April may have been National Volunteer Month but at Amway, employees are giving back to our communities throughout the year. It’s built into their DNA to serve others … which includes the Independent Business Owners we support around the world and those experiencing needs right here in our communities.”
